Imran Learns about the Earth

Imran was a curious boy who loved to explore. One day, he
went on a magical journey to learn about our Earth.
First, he saw tall mountains, wide plains, green
plateaus and golden deserts. Each landform
had its own beauty. He travelled to see the Taj
Mahal, Qutb Minar and Charminar, amazed at the
monuments built long ago. On his journey, Imran also
saw how people in deserts faced water shortage, while
those near rivers faced floods. He tasted delicious
idlis from South India, parathas from the North,
and saw people wearing saris, turbans and
dhotis. He realised that land and lifestyle go
hand in hand.

“Mountains high, rivers wide,
Plains and deserts, side by side.
Food and clothes from place to place,

India’s culture leaves a trace.”

Imran looked up and saw the bright sun shining in the day sky. The sky
sometimes looked blue, sometimes golden and sometimes
grey. He played with his shadow, running fast to see if
it could catch him! At night, the sky turned magical.
The moon changed its shape every night – from
a thin crescent to a round full moon. The stars
twinkled like diamonds. Imran dreamt of astronauts
flying into space. He read about India’s proud moment,
the Chandrayaan Mission, which explored the moon
and made the country shine. Imran felt connected
to the vast universe above him.

“Sun in the day, Moon at night,
Stars are twinkling, oh so bright.
Shadows long and shadows small,

The sky is a wonder for us all.”
