Community Events for the Environment
The people in a community celebrate many events
together to take care of our planet. These events help
us understand the importance of protecting nature and
encourage everyone to work together. Van Mahotsav is
one such event. It is celebrated in the first week of July
every year in India. During this period, people plant
trees in schools, parks and along the roads in a
neighbourhood. The objective of celebrating this event Van Mahotsav
is to remind ourselves that trees give us clean air, food,
shade and shelter. We should always remember that planting more trees helps make
our environment green and healthy.
Another important event to celebrate as a community is the World Environment Day.
It is celebrated on June 5 every year. On this day, people come together to clean their
surroundings, reduce plastic use and learn about saving nature. Schools, offices and local
groups organise drawing competitions,
rallies and cleanliness drives to spread the
awareness of protecting the environment.
Children also take part in planting saplings
and making posters, while adults take
part in taking proper initiatives to protect World Environment Day Earth Hour
nature.
