The Day Sky

The sky during the daytime is full of wonders. When we look up, we see the bright blue

sky above us. It is never the same all day long. Sometimes it is clear, sometimes it has
clouds and at times it changes its colour beautifully.

The most important part of the day sky is the sun which gives us light and warmth. The

sky also shows us clouds of different shapes and sizes, and it keeps changing colours
because of the sun’s movement.

The Sun

The sun is the star that shines during the day. It is very large, but it looks small because
it is very far away from the Earth. The sun is the main source of light and heat for our

planet. Without the sun, there would be no life on Earth. Plants need sunlight to make
their food and animals including human beings depend on plants for survival.

The sun rises in the east every morning, travels across the sky and sets in the west every

evening. This movement helps us know the time of day.

When the sun is high in the sky, it is

noon and the light is the brightest.
The sun also controls the seasons.
During summer, the sun is very

strong while in winter it feels gentle.

Thus, the sun plays a very important

Clouds

Clouds are fluffy, white or grey shapes that float in the sky.

They are made up of tiny drops of water or ice crystals. Clouds
are formed when water from rivers, lakes, seas and ponds

evaporates due to the sun’s heat and rises into the sky. When
the water vapour cools down, it changes into tiny drops that

come together to form clouds. clouds

Clouds also keep the Earth cool by blocking some of the sun’s heat. They are an important

part of the water cycle and help bring rain which is essential for life.
