Market

A market is a place that offers fresh produce,
groceries and goods to a neighbourhood.
Vendors, grocers and greengrocers work to

ensure that the market runs smoothly and
that customers can access quality products.

They also provide a space where neighbours
can interact with one another in their leisure
time. Local markets are a place that helps local

farmers and vendors to thrive. market

What do you think could happen if ATMs were suddenly unavailable for a few days? How would
that impact the people in a neighbourhood?

            Keeping Our Neighbourhood Clean

A clean neighbourhood is essential for the good health of the people living there. When

the surroundings are clean, there is less chance of the spread of diseases. Clean roads,
parks and public spaces make the area look clean and safe. Children can play safely,
and everyone can enjoy fresh air and a tidy environment. A clean neighbourhood also

creates a positive image of the community and encourages people to respect their
            surroundings.

Several people and organisations help in keeping the neighbourhood clean. Municipal

workers and waste collectors play a big role in cleaning roads and collecting garbage.
Community volunteers and resident welfare groups also organise clean-up campaigns
and spread awareness about hygiene. Schools also conduct programmes to educate

people about the importance of cleanliness. However, we should keep in mind that
these efforts only work well when everyone in the community participates.

Let’s look into some duties of the people living in a neighbourhood to keep it clean.

y We should always throw garbage in garbage bins and never litter in public places.

y We should segregate waste into dry and wet categories before disposal.
y We should avoid using single-use plastic items and use reusable materials instead.

y We should participate in local clean-up drives and community awareness activities.
