Pause and Reflect

If people in ancient times could only travel slowly using animals and wooden boats, how do you
think this affected their daily lives compared to how we travel today?
                                                                                                      Apply

            Modern Modes of Travel

Nowadays, we have many fast and comfortable ways to
travel. We use bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, cars and
buses for short distances. For long distances, we use

aeroplanes and high-speed trains. People also use ships
and steamers to travel across seas and oceans.

Travel has also been made easy and quick because of good
roads, highways, railway lines and airports. Many people
also use the metro train in big cities to avoid traffic. We

also make use of emergency vehicles like ambulances and
fire engines to help save lives. different means of modern

            Structures that Help Us Move

It is necessary that people are able to move from one place to another easily. With time,
population in cities become larger and roads get busier. Thus, it becomes important
to build smart structures that help people and vehicles move safely and quickly. These

structures are designed to reduce traffic jams, prevent accidents and make travel easier.
Let’s learn about some of these useful structures.

            Flyover and Over-bridge

A flyover is a bridge built over roads to help vehicles pass without getting stuck in traffic.
It allows traffic to move quickly and safely over busy roads or intersections.

An over-bridge is usually built for trains or pedestrians to cross over railway lines or
            roads.
