Different Types of Plants

There is a variety of plants around us. Some plants like tulsi
(basil) have a thin, weak stem and live only for one season.

            They are called herbs.

Small bushy plants that have a thin woody stem with many
branches growing from the base are called shrubs. They live
for a few years. Bougainvillea and hibiscus are two examples

                                         of shrubs.

Very big, tall and strong plants are called trees. They have a

thick, brown, woody stem called the trunk. Most trees live
for many years. Apple, guava, gulmohar and neem are some

            examples of trees.
                                                                                               guava tree

Some plants have a weak stem such that they need the
support of other things to climb. They are called climbers. Pea,

grapevine and money plant are some examples of climbers.

Some plants have a weak stem that cannot support the weight

of the fruit that grows on the plant so they grow along the
ground. They are called creepers. Pumpkin and watermelon
            are examples of creepers.

                                                                                            watermelon plant

Many herbs such as tulsi (holy basil), mint, turmeric, and aloe vera have natural medicinal
properties. They are used to treat common ailments like colds, stomach aches, wounds, and skin
              problems.
