                                                    About the Chapter

Food is an important part of our life. It gives us energy to work, play and grow. This chapter helps
us understand the importance of food and why we must value it. We will learn about a balanced
diet, which keeps our body healthy and how junk food can harm us if we eat too much of it.
Our teeth and tongue play a special role in digestion and we will explore the steps of human
digestion in detail. The chapter also teaches us about mindful eating which means eating with
full attention and respect for food. We will discover both ancient and modern methods of storing
and preserving food so that it stays safe and fresh for longer. By learning all these things, we will
realise why wasting food is wrong and how food should be respected, shared, and enjoyed in a
              healthy way.

Shobha, do you know I think we must respect food
my mother always says Yes, my grandmother also because it keeps us alive and
food should never be tells me to eat slowly and healthy.
                     wasted? chew properly so that
                                              food digests well.
