Clay Oven
A clay oven is known as chulha or tandoor. It is a traditional Indian cooking method.
A chulha is made from clay and is often built in the open courtyard of homes.
A tandoor is also made of clay but is deeper, and food is cooked inside it by burning
coal or wood. Rotis, naan and tandoori dishes are commonly cooked in a tandoor. This
method gives food a unique taste and aroma.
Modern Gas Stove
Today, most families in towns and cities use gas stoves for cooking. A gas stove works with
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) which produces a clean and steady flame. Cooking on a
gas stove is quicker and easier than traditional methods. The flame can be controlled to
low, medium or high depending on the type of dish being cooked. It is one of the most
convenient cooking methods used in households.
Induction Plate
The induction plate is a modern method of cooking that works with electricity. Unlike
gas stoves, it does not produce a flame. Instead, it uses electromagnetic energy to heat
utensils directly. It is safe, fast and energy-efficient. Since no smoke is produced, it is also
considered eco-friendly. However, it only works with certain types of utensils made of
stainless steel or iron.
