Case Study: Honeybee Farming in Sundarbans

In the Sundarbans region of West Bengal, many villagers practise honeybee farming. The area is
famous for its Mangrove Honey which is collected from bee colonies living in mangrove forests.
Bees in this region help in pollination, which improves the growth of fruits, vegetables and
crops. However, bee farmers also face dangers and challenges. Sometimes, they are attacked
by wild animals like tigers while collecting honey. Deforestation and pesticides also threaten
bee colonies which makes it difficult for farmers to continue their work.
Based on your understanding of the text, answer the following questions.
                   1. Why is honeybee farming important for both farmers and the environment?

                   2. What problems do bee farmers in the Sundarbans face while collecting honey?
                   3. How do honeybees help in the growth of crops and plants?
