This unit teaches learners how to live a healthy, happy and safe life. It shows the importance

Chapter 7: Food We Eat
This chapter explains why food is important and how it gives us energy
to work, play and grow. It introduces food groups like cereals, fruits,
vegetables, milk and pulses. Learners also learn where food ingredients
come from and how food reaches us through the journey of food. The
chapter also explains different cooking methods like boiling, roasting,
frying and steaming, which make food tasty and safe to eat. Children will
understand that cooking not only changes the flavour of food but also
makes it healthier in many cases.

Chapter 8: The Value of Food

how digestion takes place. The idea of mindful eating teaches learners
to eat slowly with respect for food. The chapter also covers different ways
of storing and preserving food such as drying, pickling, refrigeration and
canning.
