Nanda Devi National Park
Nanda Devi National Park is located in the Garhwal Himalayas
(Uttarakhand). This park surrounds the Nanda Devi peak, one
of India’s highest mountains. The valleys here are covered with
rare alpine flowers, snow leopards and other wildlife. It is also a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Valley of Flowers
Gol Gumbaz
Gol Gumbaz is built in Bijapur (Karnataka, Deccan Plateau). It
is famous for its huge dome, which is the second largest in the
world. The ‘whispering gallery’ inside allows even the faintest
sound to be heard clearly across the hall.

Ajanta and Ellora Caves
Ajanta and Ellora Caves are located in Maharashtra (Deccan Plateau). These are rock-cut
caves that are carved directly out of the plateau’s rocky surface. The Ajanta caves are
decorated with Buddhist paintings and sculptures, while the Ellora caves display Hindu,
Jain and Buddhist monuments. They showcase India’s art and spirituality.

Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal is located in Agra (Uttar Pradesh, Ganga Plains). It was
built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz
Mahal. This is a white marble mausoleum which stands on the
banks of the Yamuna River. It is one of the ‘Seven Wonders of
the World’ and symbolises eternal love. Taj Mahal
